Working alongside the RUH Capital Projects team, architects Fielden Clegg Bradley (FCB) and RUHX (formerly known as The Forever Friends Appeal) our aim was to integrate art and design into the fabric of the environmentally sustainable and state-of-the-art unit for premature babies.
We carried out consultation with parents and NICU staff to develop many aspects of the interior of the unit, including signage and furnishings. Colour schemes were developed with FCB’s colour consultant and produced into a sequence of beautiful colours around the unit that give the unit a unique ambience and also help with way finding.
During the process, Art at the Heart worked closely with artist Christopher Tipping to design an etched panel for the window between the garden and main Princess Anne Corridor.
