 Ted’s Big Day Out

Friday 18th October –   Region-Wide Fundraising Day for Schools & Youth Groups

Schools, colleges, nurseries, and youth organisations in Bath, Wiltshire, and Somerset – your hospital needs you! The Forever Friends Appeal, the fundraising charity for the Royal United Hospitals (RUH) in Bath, is inviting you to join our annual fundraising day ‘Ted’s Big Day Out’ on Friday 18th October. As part of the charity’s special 20th anniversary celebrations, this year’s theme is ‘Celebrate Your Way’ – so it’s up to you, organise a fancy dress day, have a film night, organise a teddy bears picnic or do something else fun to raise vital funds to support patients at the RUH.

By taking part in Ted’s Big Day Out, you will be supporting Children’s Services across the RUH– by helping to fund specialist medical equipment, research and facilities for the Neonatal Ward, Children’s Centre, and Children’s Therapies Centre. Alternatively, you can fundraise for any ward, department or campaign at the hospital that is close to your heart. This is a perfect opportunity for young people to learn about the importance of the NHS, the value of helping others AND have lots of fun along the way.

Interested in taking part? Sign up today to receive your FREE fundraising back and be in with the chance of winning a visit from the Forever Friends Appeal mascot ‘Big Ted’: www.tedsbigdayout.com  or call 01225 824013.

India Dalai Lama Trek for the RUH

23rd September – 4th October 2020

Calling all walking-enthusiasts and one-of-a-kind experience-seekers! The charity for the Royal United Hospitals Bath (RUH), The Forever Friends Appeal, is looking for local people to join their 2020 trekking team – who are hiking through the spiritual home of the Dalai Lama in India next autumn. Beginning in Dharamsala (the heart of the Tibetan community), you’ll trek through the beautiful Indian Himalayas, rhododendron forests and high up in alpine meadows surrounded by snow-capped peaks, passing through traditional Hindu settlements, temples and Buddhist Monasteries. You’ll also have the chance to visit the Taj Mahal… and all in the knowledge that every step you take will support patients and their families back home. Plus, new for this year, the group will spend a day volunteering at a school along the route, an amazing opportunity to give back to the community.

The charity is hosting an Information Evening at the RUH on Wednesday 2nd October from 6:30-8pm. This will feature an evening of presentations about fundraising and the trek itself, including a Q&A session with a Global Adventure Challenges trek leader, as well as a chance to hear about previous trekkers’ experiences.
